Rabbi Penina Alexander
Network Director
Rabbi Penina Alexander is the Network Director for Jewish Kids Groups. In this role, she guides JKG’s national community of Jewish weekday afternoon programs to connect, learn, support, and strengthen one another. The network includes three Atlanta programs and 17 North American programs launched through JKG’s JASA program.
Rabbi Penina has spent her career working with learners of all ages in a wide variety of educational settings. Penina most recently served as the Talmud Torah Director at B’nai Israel Congregation in Rockville, MD, where she directed their supplemental Jewish education program, supervised teachers, and led family programming.
A lifelong camp person, Rabbi Penina has led experiential programs for campers and staff at Camp Ramah in California, Ramah Darom, and Ramah Day Camp of Greater Washington. She has taught Judaic Studies in several day school and religious school classrooms.
Penina is a recent graduate of the Mandel Teacher Educator Institute, where she trained in methods to provide high-quality professional development for educators. Penina received her BA from UCLA, Rabbinic ordination from Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies, and her MAEd from American Jewish University.
When not at work, Penina loves to hike in Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC, where she lives with her family.
