JKG Afternoon Community Director - Morningside

Position Overview

The Afternoon Community Director in Morningside serves as the leader of the Afternoon Community at our Morningside location and oversees all aspects of the program. In this dynamic role, the Director cares for and inspires students, motivates and supports teachers, and provides unparalleled customer service to parents.

Afternoon Community Directors are part of a close-knit team of Directors across Atlanta who collaborate to achieve goals and further JKG’s mission. Directors both enjoy the benefits of working with a supportive team and maintain independence to establish the unique culture of their JKG site.


Job Description

The Afternoon Community Director position is multifaceted. It includes overall program vision, curriculum development, hiring, developing and managing the teaching team, event planning, parent communications and engagement, enrollment, and student management. The categories of responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Program Development 

  • Hone vision and approach of Afternoon Community program

  • Work with leadership team to refine policies, procedures, and program initiatives

  • Manage the implementation of JKG's experiential Jewish and Hebrew curriculum

  • Solicit and integrate audience feedback, always aiming to get better

  • Elevate the Afternoon Community through the implementation of new programming

Team Management

  • Recruit, hire, train and on-board Afternoon Community teachers, assistant teachers, specialists, and volunteers as needed.

  • Co-plan and run Teacher Orientation at the beginning of the school year alongside other Afternoon Community Directors.

  • Plan and run regular staff meetings and professional development sessions for the Afternoon Community team. At JKG, we aim to “get better, faster”.

  • Support teachers as needed with lesson planning, classroom management, and behavior management.

  • Cultivate a positive, hard working, supportive culture among staff.

Family Relationship Management

  • Go above and beyond what parents expect (send “happy emails,”  regular check-ins, and create opportunities to show parents you care. For example, take note when a parent is celebrating a birthday and send a birthday card home in their child’s backpack!)

  • Send weekly program updates to Afternoon Community families

  • Communicate with parents during work hours by phone, email and in-person meetings about their child’s experience at JKG

  • Serve as the point of contact for all questions and information about JKG Afternoon Community in Morningside

Operations Management

  • Handle any on-site facilities issues as they arise by notifying appropriate parties or taking action as needed, including playground, building, and vehicle maintenance

  • Set transportation schedule for the school year based on student enrollment

  • Maintain the administrative side of Afternoon Community in ChildPilot (student/teacher documents, allergies, enrollment documents, documentation and organization of lesson plans, student enrollment records, record daily attendance, etc.)

  • Purchase program supplies and snack as needed

  • Manage budget and spending for Afternoon Community program

  • Manage Morningside building security-ongoing operation and maintenance of security monitoring equipment (alarm system, access, cameras, lighting, etc.), and issuing/regular monitoring of building access/keycards

Driving Enrollment

  • Recruit prospective families through emails, open houses, Back to School night, festivals, promotional events, sample days, and other creative marketing strategies throughout the year

  • Steward families through the enrollment process

  • Take families out to coffee, ice cream, etc. as part of the enrollment process to get to know them better and encourage them to enroll in JKG

  • Lead tours for new families and interested parties

School’s Out Camp Days

Plan and implement the programming for all School’s Out Camp days throughout the year. This includes:

  • Registration and enrollment of children 

  • Arranging for guest presenters and field trips

  • Creating and maintaining a daily schedule

  • Hiring, managing, and prepping team for their roles 

  • Communications with parents and staff around camp day logistics

Special Events

  • Plan and attend special JKG events as needed. Some examples include Shabbat Potluck dinners and the end of year ceremony.

Miscellaneous

  • Any other special projects, new initiatives, and responsibilities that may fall under the JKG Afternoon Community umbrella.


More Information

  • Start Date: Immediately

  • Base Salary: $48,000 - $50,000 annual salary

  • Benefits:
