Meet The JKG Afterschool Community Brookhaven Team
Mia Azani, Afterschool Community Co-Director and Lead Teacher
Mia is a skilled educator, loving camp leader, and experiential learner who has worked at JKG for several years in different roles. Mia speaks fluent Hebrew, has lived in Israel, and received a robust Jewish Day School education. She has spent time learning and working in Israel and Peru, which helped her discover her love for childcare and helping children grow in an open environment. She has taken many workshops and courses in holistic psychology and child therapy.
In her free time, Mia loves to explore nature, music, art, and mediation. We are thrilled to have her with us on the JKG Brookhaven team!
Andrea Waterstone, Afterschool Community Co-Director and Lead Teacher
Andrea graduated from Valdosta State with a Masters in Deaf Education and Special Education and holds a BA in Studio Art from UGA. Andrea has worked at JKG as an Afterschool Lead Teacher for many years, and is excited to bring new innovations, creativity and passion to the Co-Director position at Brookhaven.
In Andrea’s previous work, she ran the Clarkston Community Centers ‘Art @ the Center’ summer camp and after school programs, and provided free engagement for over 200 refugee and local youth. She brings six years of Visual Arts teaching experience at the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf and International Community School, and has engaged many teaching artists, outside collaborations and gallery events in her work. Andrea started up Clarkston, Ga’s first ever gallery space in 2016–Square Mile Gallery–and she loves to create opportunities for all artists.
In her free time, Andrea enjoys yoga, mosaics, painting, camping, gardening, and spending time at home with her newborn Forrest and husband Alex.
Batel Mann, Lead Teacher
Batel has been working at JKG in the Sunday program for over three years and is excited to join the Afterschool Community as Lead Teacher. Batel attended New York University for film and drama. She has also been an In the City Camp counselor and photographer for three summers, and a Camp Spark (Playball) counselor.
Batel loves working with children and watching them learn and grow. She has always enjoyed hearing the kid’s insights about lessons and seeing how creative they can get with projects. In her free time, Batel enjoys art, photography, film, drama, reading, and writing.
