Mackenzie Sherman, Site Director
Mackenzie Sherman was born and raised in Atlanta. He graduated from Kennesaw State University with a B.S. in Psychology and a concentration in applied statistics. He is currently the Assistant Director of Camp Isidore Alterman and Specialty Camps at the Marcus JCC in Atlanta. In the past he has worked as a neurodevelopmental teacher at Jacob’s Ladder Neurodevelopmental Learning Center in Roswell, GA. He has also worked as a JKG Site Director before.
Mackenzie loves any outdoor activity. He enjoys hiking, Atlanta sports teams, and good books.
Mackenzie is excited to see JKG integrated at the JCC, and is so excited to reunite with the JKG team and bring a great program to a great network of people at the JCC.
JKG Sunday Dunwoody at MJCCA Pre-K/Kindergarten Teaching Team
Aden Dori, Lead Teacher
Aden is a student at the Atlanta Jewish Academy. She has been an assistant teacher at JKG for two years, and has also worked as a Hebrew school teacher at B’nei Torah. Beyond that, she babysits and works with kids at her shul.
Aden loves to read, play soccer and volleyball, hang out with her friends, teacher herself piano, swim, and speak in public.
Aden is excited to build a loving and strong Jewish environment for her students where they all feel comfortable and can get to know each other. She wants her students to look forward to JKG every Sunday!
Itai Shefler, Assistant Teacher
Itai is a student at Alpharetta High School, originally from Israel. He began working for JKG at the end of the 2017-18 school year and is excited to be back.
Itai is great with kids and he loves getting them excited about the lessons he teaches. He can’t wait to fully join the JKG family with a class he can get to know and love.

Linda Leman, Lead Teacher
Linda is originally from the suburbs of Chicago. Before coming to JKG, she was an education director and teacher at Tikvat David for 14 years. She also wrote and directed a week long summer program for students from Kindergarten to 5th grade for six summers. She currently homeschools her youngest two children, who are in 5th and 8th grade.
Linda loves to spend time outside. She also likes to garden and ice skate.
Linda is excited to work with the JKG students and get to know them over the year!
Lindsay Kraun, Lead Teacher
Lindsay is a Master’s Student at Georgia State University, studying occupational therapy. She is originally from Sandy Springs, and graduated form the University of Tampa with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.
This is Lindsay’s second year teaching at JKG. During the week, Lindsay works at the JCC’s Club J Afterschool Program, and she has worked for seven summers as a counselor and then a unit head at Camp Isadore Alterman.
Lindsay loves to read, write, and run. She used to play competitive soccer, as well. She is a huge Atlanta Falcons fan and will eat anything chocolate. Lindsay is most excited to watch her students make new friendships, try new things, and grow their Jewish identities.

Aviva Summers, Lead Teacher
Aviva has a Bachelors of Arts degree in Judaic Studies from Binghamton University. She is originally from Boston, but has lived in Atlanta since high school. Aviva was a preschool teacher at JKG Alpharetta last year, and also teaches preschool at Ahava Early Learning Center in Buckhead.
Aviva likes playing guitar and Israeli dancing. She speaks English, Hebrew, and Korean.
This is Aviva’s first year at JKG Dunwoody, and she is excited for new students, new experiences, but the same JKG fun!
Gilad Yehudai, Assistant Teacher
Gilad is a Junior at Cambridge High School. He has worked with the Israeli Scouts Games as a volunteer to help out with educational activities on a weekly basis.
Gilad loves playing basketball, running track, learning about technology and psychology, and traveling.
Gilad is most excited to meet his group of kids and get to know each one individually. He believes this is the best way to give them the best experience at JKG!

Micah Frankel, Lead Teacher
Micah is a Senior at The Weber School. He has worked at Congregation Beth Teffilah as a teen leader for youth groups and he has served as a counselor at Camp Gon Israel.
Micah enjoys baseball, basketball and football and he enjoys science, teaching, and taking care of younger children.
Micah is most excited to educate his students about Judaism in an exciting way. He is also looking forward to watching his students grow and mature as the year goes along.
Peleg Shinar, Assistant Teacher
Peleg is a junior at Denmark High School. He has worked as a counselor for the Israeli scouts for 4th and 5th graders. He has also been a taekwondo instructor for 2 years teaching 3rd-7th graders.
Peleg enjoys freelance event and portrait photography, participating in Tzofim activities, and editing and filming videos.
Peleg is very excited to add his experience working with kids to enrich Sundays with fun, Jewish experiences. He can’t wait to watch students learn and grow through the year at JKG!
JKG Sunday Dunwoody at MJCCA 5th Grade Teaching Team
Opal Sivan, Lead Teacher
Opal is a senior at William and Reed Academy, originally from Israel. She began working at JKG last year as an assistant teacher in the 4th and 5th grade classes. Later in the year, she became the lead 5th grade teacher. She is also in the Israeli Scouts and has worked there as a 4th grade counselor and then a seventh grade counselor.
Opal likes to write, play piano, and loves to be with her friends and family.
Opal is excited to get to know her students and to bring them more Israeli and Jewish culture and traditions.
Oz Tal, Assistant Teacher
Oz is a student at Alpharetta High School. She has been working as a skills director and counselor at the MJCCA with Friends of Israeli Scouts (Tzofim) since 2017. She also has been volunteering with her old Preschool in Alpharetta since 2014.
Oz enjoys skills she has learned through her time with the Scouts such as tying knots, building structures, and fire writings.
Oz is most excited to work with other people in Tzofim through JKG and meet new people in the Jewish community.

Loren Ramirez, Lead Teacher
Loren is originally from Johns Creek, GA. She has a Bachelors of Arts Degree in French with a minor in Jewish, Islamic, and Near Eastern Studies. This will be her second year at JKG. Apart from JKG, Loren has worked as an 8th grade social studies teacher through Americorps Breakthrough Austin in 2013, and as the Assistant Director of the Child Care Center at Capital City Club in Brookhaven.
Loren loves hiking, salsa dancing, and all things Israel! She is excited to teach Hebrew and work at a new site!
