Meet The JKG Afterschool Community Morningside Team
Arielle Klebanoff, Afterschool Community Director (Morningside)
Arielle graduated from Georgia State University where she majored in education and earned her master’s degree in Creative and Innovative Education. She has previously worked at JKG Sunday and as an Afterschool Community Teacher, JKG Sunday Brookhaven Director, and former Afterschool Community Director. She is excited to return to the position with fresh ideas, to meet new families, and to see familiar faces.
In her free time Arielle enjoys yoga, spending time with family, walking, running, and biking on the Beltline, and checking out Atlanta restaurants.
Erin Pirkle, Lead Teacher
Erin attended Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA. She graduated in May 2017 with a BA in English Literature-Creative Writing and History. She will graduate in August 2018 from The George Washington University in Washington, DC with an MA in Experiential Education and Jewish Cultural Arts
In high school, Erin was a madrichim, or helper, in the religious school program at Temple Sinai in Sandy Springs, GA and worked as a camp counselor at the MJCCA day camps. In college Erin interned at Temple Sinai for three years as the assistant youth director for ages K-12 and taught K-2nd grade Sunday School, and during her senior year. She worked at JKG as a Lead Sunday Teacher and floater. This past year she taught 6th grade Hebrew and Judaic Studies at Washington Hebrew Congregation. This year, she is also serving as Temple Sinai's K-5th grade youth groups adviser, Noar Sunday 1st grade teacher and team supervisor, and family engagement associate.
Erin loves attending Atlanta United and Braves games, going to the movies, baking, and attending as many arts and culture festivals as possible. She also volunteers at Lifeline Animal Project, the Anne Frank in the World exhibit in Sandy Springs, and tutor teens and college students in various subjects.
Katie Lipsiner, Lead Teacher
Katie Lipsiner, aka KT, grew up in Marietta, Georgia, and graduated from Georgia College in 2016 with a degree in Mass Communication and Digital Media. In high school, Katie worked as a counselor and lifeguard at MJCCA Day Camp. Katie also spent three summers working as a counselor and nature specialist at Camp Barney Medintz, a Jewish overnight camp in the North Georgia mountains. In addition to her work at camp and in the Atlanta Jewish community, Katie is a skilled multimedia editor. Katie started an Atlanta based music and arts publication titled Sad Girl Collective.
When she is not busy at JKG or editing, Katie enjoys going to rock concerts, hiking on the Appalachian Trail, and photography. This year at JKG, Katie is most excited to work with the amazing Morningside Afterschool community and help grow JKG even more through our totally awesome curriculum!
Jake Lipsiner, Lead Teacher
Jake grew up going to day camps and sleep away camp in Toccoa, GA, and has
worked at Jewish summer camp since he was sixteen years old. Jake has an incredible passion and love for camp, and enjoys teaching kids about Jewish culture and Hebrew. Last year, Jake joined JKG Afterschool as a substitute teacher, and enjoyed every second of it! He is pumped to join us this year as a Lead Teacher.
Jake comes from East Cobb, and is a proud Atlantan. At KSU, he earned his Bachelors in Exercise Science. There, Jake founded a Chabad Student Union and an Alpha Epsilon Pi Jewish fraternity Chapter at KSU. He is proud of his Jewish involvement and achievements at University.
In his free time, Jake enjoys kayaking the Chattahoochee and lakes around North Georgia. He also loves hiking, biking, playing tennis, photography and going to Atlanta Braves and Atlanta United games!
Rachel Moldovan, Lead Teacher
Rachel graduated with a Master’s in Teaching with a concentration in Foreign Language Education. She previously taught high school French and 4th grade Reading, Writing, Social Studies, and Social-emotional learning at Kindezi Old Fourth Ward. This will be her 5th year teaching. She completed the TALMA Fellowship in Israel for ESL this past summer. She has served as a 7th grade lead teacher at JKG Sunday and has taught at In the City Camp and various other summer camps around Atlanta.
In her free time she enjoys kayaking, hiking, vegan food, traveling, and language learning.
