DEBORAH TARASOW SALOMON, FOUNDER OF HEBREW WIZARDS

Deborah is the Founder, Director and Spiritual Leader of the Hebrew Wizards School and the Wizards Congregation in Greenwich, Connecticut. She is a close partner and adviser to Jewish Kids Groups in Atlanta, and heads our professional development and curriculum training efforts.
Her focus is on teaching children how to love Judaism by combining a relaxed and creative school environment with the spirit and fun of summer camp. Deborah created an excellent, innovative, and fresh curriculum that does just that.
Deborah is the daughter of Rabbi Tarasow, and both of her parents were leaders in Jewish education in various schools throughout the United States. She was raised with a strong Conservative Jewish background, and as a child attended weekly Saturday morning services and participated in various Jewish and Hebrew-speaking summer camps. She began her teaching career by tutoring B'nai Mitzvah students when she was 14. Her education culminated with a pilgrimage to Israel with USY in 1980.
As an adult, she has taught students at Temple Sinai in Roslyn, Connecticut, conducted adult Hebrew courses at JCC in Harrison, Connecticut, and was the lead teacher of second, third, fifth and seventh grades at Temple Sholom Religious School from 1995-2005. She graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1985 with a degree in Economics and a Minor in Hebrew. She received her MBA from Pace University in 1990.
In January 2013, Deborah will be ordained as a Rabbi by The Jewish Spiritual Leader's Institute under the leadership of Rabbi Steven Blane.
