Andrea Waterstone, Director of Community Programming
Andrea has two roles at JKG: she is both the Director of Community Programming at JKG, as well as a Lead Teacher in JKG Afterschool Community. Andrea is a community connector, youth advocate, arts aficionado, and team player. She envisions JKG engaging with a diverse and vibrant community, connecting through volunteer opportunities around Atlanta and building a strong web of engagement through mitzvot (good deeds) and tikkun olam (repairing the world).
In Andrea’s previous work, she ran the Clarkston Community Center's 'Art @ the Center' summer camp and after school programs, and provided free engagement for over 200 refugee and local youth. She brings six years of Visual Arts teaching experience at the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf and International Community School, and has engaged many teaching artists, outside collaborations and gallery events in her work. Andrea is an Aish Hatorah Israel Scholarship recipient and a Maimonides Leaders Fellowship Graduate. She received her M.A.T in Deaf Education from Valdosta State and holds her B.A. in Studio Art from UGA.
Andrea’s strengths lie in bridging communities, collaborating with creatives and recognizing the spark of greatness we each hold within ourselves. She is a passionate camper and holds her years at Camp Coleman as a pivotal shaping of who she is today as a Jew.
