We have had so much fun at JKG! After spending the first weeks of this semester reviewing, we started our "Journey through the Torah" AND broke into our Hebrew groups for the beginning of the year! Follow along with our adventures below as we learned the story of Noah's Ark, made another Ashkenazi dish, and started our Ivrit (Hebrew) lessons!
Check out a sampling of our nishnushim (snacks) and peulot (activities) from this week!
Some of our friends learned how to make matzo brei, another traditional Ashkenazi dish. We are LOVING our new cooking classes!
After hearing the story of Noah's Ark, JKG students are challenged to complete an obstacle course in pairs--they must get their partner onto the ark!

We had a ridiculously cool time at JKG Afterschool! This week we continued our community building and reviewed or introduced some Ivrit (Hebrew) letters and phrases. Our students had a blast with cooking, an ongoing art project, and new Hebrew review games. Follow along with some of our adventures below!

This week we continued settling into our afterschool routines. Throughout the week, JKG Kids played different Hebrew review games, worked on a beautiful mosaic that we will display in our space, spent time in the garden, on the playground, and in the JKG Kitchen. Scroll down for daily updates and lots of pictures! Shabbat Shalom!

A certified yoga and Hebrew teacher? Now that is ridiculously cool!
Friendship bracelets, games, and decorating kitchen signs!
Our first week back at JKG Afterschool Community was nothing short of perfect. Admittedly, there were some tears, but only when kids learned it was time to go home!
Joy filled the air as old friends reconnected and new friendships were forged. Our new JKGers jumped right into the action! After just three days it is hard to imagine this place without our new friends.
After much preparation, the JKG teaching team loved having all the kids back in the building. We stayed very busy this week - creating community agreements, tending the JKG garden, playing Hebrew vocabulary review games, and making silly self portraits.
If week one was any indication, this year is going to be more ridiculously cool than ever before. Thank you to the incredible JKG team, kids, and parents who helped make week one such a success.
