JKG Afterschool Community
A unique weekday Hebrew school that works for your busy family.
Mon-Thurs 2:30-6:00 pm, Fri 2:30-5:00; Choose the days that are best for you.
We combine the services of a premium afterschool program with a full Hebrew school curriculum--all in a camp-like environment. Every day after school we meet to:
Each day includes playground time, homework help, and experiential Jewish learning. We have a playscape featuring a Jewish educational garden, and attract a team of fun-loving teens who lead homework help and games.
We use Hebrew Wizards, a unique curriculum that revolves around a series of beautifully designed thematic boards. Students work in intimate groups to "master" specific boards they help select. The groups may, for example, decide to write a play, create an art project, invent a pneumonic device, write a song, or design a board game. Students then demonstrate what they've learned while playing games and having fun.
Interwoven into each day at JKG Afterschool Community are other elements of the arts, including drama, fine art, music; movement such as yoga and sports; and gardening. We also bring in experts to address social topics, like how to be a good friend and why listening is important.
Friday at JKG is all about Shabbat. Students make challah, learn prayers and Shabbat rituals, and do art and movement activities that focus on the themes of Shabbat: rest, gratitude, and togetherness.
Join us for a Shabbat celebration on the first Friday of each month!
