JKG Sunday Old Fourth Ward Leadership Team
Ella Padawer, Sunday Site Director, JKG Old Fourth Ward
Ella is a Senior at Georgia State University pursuing a degree in Music Performance (Vocal). She is originally from Israel but grew up in North Georgia. Before serving as JKG Sunday’s Old Fourth Ward Site Director, Ella worked as a part of the JKG Sunday Hebrew team. She also spends time subbing in the JKG Afterschool Community, babysitting, and volunteering at a camp for underprivileged kids.
Ella loves to dance, sing, perform, and do anything active like yoga or hiking. She is bilingual in Hebrew and English and has studied Italian, French, and Spanish.
Ella is excited to create a community among teachers, students, and parents at Intown this year!
Ellen Pikus, Assistant Sunday Site Director, JKG Old Fourth Ward
Ellen recently graduated from GSU with a Bachelors in Neuroscience. She has worked for the JKG Afterschool Community as a substitute teacher in the past and currently works as a medical scribe for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
Ellen's future career aspirations include becoming a Physician of Pediatric Neurology, combining her two passions of working with children and medicine.
She loves hiking, art galleries and stand-up comedy open mics. Ellen is excited to work with the JKG staff and can't wait to promote a fun and educative Jewish experience!
JKG Sunday Intown Preschool Teaching Team
Tal Ben-Yishai, Lead Teacher
Tal is originally from Israel, and she is in her second year at Georgia State University studying neuroscience. In addition to JKG, she has worked at Club J at the MJCCA, at summer camps in Israel, and as a substitute preschool teacher at the Weinstein School.
Tal enjoys studying, hanging out with friends and family, being outside, watching movies, and exploring new places.
Tal is super excited to get to know her students and teach them in a fun way!
Sarah Siegel, Assistant Teacher
Sarah is in 12th grade at Temima High School. She has worked at Intown Jewish Preschool for one summer, and has worked at JKG in the past. She has also worked at Camp Gan Israel of Atlanta and this past summer she worked at Camp Chabad in New York.
Sarah loves working with kids. She also enjoys fashion, sports, and reading.
Sarah is looking forward to teaching the JKG kids!
Ruthie Stolovitz, Assistant Teacher
Ruthie is a sophomore at the Weber School, returning for her second year at JKG. Before JKG, she also babysat.
Ruthie enjoys playing volleyball, volunteering at the Friendship Circle, and spending time with her friends, family, and dog.
Ruthie is excited to meet her new students and form connections with them!
JKG Sunday Intown Pre-K Teaching Team
Sophie Steinberg, Assistant Teacher
Sophie is in 10th grade at the Atlanta Jewish Academy. She has babysat kids ages 2-11 since she was around 12. She has also worked as a camp counselor at In the City Camp and spent her time with 6-10 year olds.
Sophie loves drawing and painting. She has also played piano since she was seven.
Sophie is excited to build a friendship and a connection with the students in her class.
JKG Sunday Intown Kindergarten Teaching Team
Leah Neiman, Lead Teacher
Leah is a Senior at Emory University originally from Port Jefferson, New York. In the past, Leah has worked a JKG assistant teacher and as the JKG Jr. teacher. She also writes lessons for JKG and has spent time working as a day camp counselor at a pre-school.
Leah loves archaeology, museum education, baking, and cooking.
Leah is excited to create an exciting and respectful learning community in her class that will let her students learn while having a lot of fun!
Yael Lovett, Assistant Teacher
Yael is in 11th grade at Temima High School for Girls. She has taken care of children on Shabbat at Temple Beth Jacob, as well as worked as a junior counselor at camp Bee Jay. She also spends time babysitting.
Yael loves to bake, read, sing, and paint. She is certified in CPR and is knowledgeable in Hebrew.
Yael is most excited about making Judaism fun and interesting for the kids at JKG!
JKG Sunday Intown 1st Grade Teaching Team
Samantha Mandel, Lead Teacher
Samantha is originally from Atlanta and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Promotion and Behavior from the University of Georgia. This is her first year at JKG. Before JKG, Samantha worked as an assistant Sunday School teacher and a summer day camp counselor at Congregation Dor Tamid. She was also a counselor at URJ Camp Coleman after attending as a camper for numerous summers.
Samantha enjoys fitness, cooking, trying new restaurants, crafting, and being in nature. She is excited to connect with her Jewish roots and teach a new generation of children about Judiasm in a fun and engaging way.
Ross Bloom, Assistant Teacher
Ross is a first year student at Georgia Tech, originally from Sanford, Florida. Before coming to JKG, he spent three years as a Sunday teacher’s assistant at Congregation Ohev Shalom for grades 1-3. He was also a camp counselor for Machaneh Ohev (for Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 4th grade). He has also spent time tutoring.
Ross enjoys origami, learning violin, robotics, reading, math, and puns!
Ross is most excited about meeting new people and gaining educational experience.
JKG Sunday Intown 2nd Grade Teaching Team
Sydney Popsuj, Lead Teacher
Sydney is a Junior at Agnes Scott College, originally from Boston, Massachusetts. She is currently studying for a Bachelor’s degree in biology. She has three years of experience working as a children’s ski instructor.
Sydney loves learning about different languages and cultures. She knows Spanish, Chinese, and is learning Hebrew. She is very interested in cross-cultural communication and how language affects this.
Sydney is excited to hear about the experiences that have defined her students’ Jewish identities!
JKG Sunday Intown 4th Grade Teaching Team
Adam Lombroso, Lead Teacher
Adam is originally from Connecticut, and he has a Bachelor’s degree from Colorado College. In addition to working at JKG, Adam also serves as a Middle School wrestling coach.
Adam has extensive wilderness survival training, and he enjoys video games, board games, and watching TV.
Adam is looking forward to bonding with the JKG team!
JKG Sunday Intown 5th Grade Teaching Team
Ben Alpert, Lead Teacher
Ben is a Senior at Emory University from West Hartford, Connecticut, studying Spanish and Chinese. Last year, he worked as an assistant teacher at JKG. He has also spent time volunteering for Autism Families CONNECTICUT and Miracle League of Greater Hartford as well as the Friendship Circle of Atlanta and Greater Hartford.
Ben loves travel, sports, being active, reading, and hanging out with friends when he has time. He also enjoys volunteering, teaching, and watching people grow and become stronger through commitment and hard work.
Ben is really excited to join a new JKG community as he transitions from the Brookhaven site to Old Fourth Ward. He hopes to make even more great memories at JKG!
Elias Neibart, Assistant Teacher
Elias is a sophomore at Emory University originally from Morristown, New Jersey. He loves politics, Hebrew, and history, and has spent time working as a JKG floater and being a counselor at the Friendship Circle.
Elias is excited to learn all about the Jewish holidays at JKG this year!
JKG Sunday Intown 6th Grade Teaching Team
Sarah Perlin, Lead Teacher
Sarah is originally from Tampa Florida. She graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor’s in sociology. Since then, she worked as a full time science teacher, a JKG floater, a tutor, and a nanny.
Sarah enjoys reading, music, running, cooking and baking, and watching Netflix.
Sarah is excited to work with our Middle School students on Jewish values!
JKG Sunday Intown Rotating Assistant Teachers and Floaters
Jarett Rovner, Floater
Jarett is a Junior at Emory University, originally from Holland, Pennsylvania. Before working at JKG, Jarett spent time coaching boys’ soccer.
Jarett enjoys American history and literature, classic rock, Philadelphia Eagles football, contemporary American Jewish life, and criminal law.
Jarett is excited to help young kids find their favorite aspects of their Jewish identities and to teach them more about their Jewish heritage.
Emily Kastenberg, Floater
Emily is a freshman from Emory originally from Philadelphia. Before working at JKG, she has worked as a Hebrew school teaching assistant in Philadelphia, a sleepaway camp counselor, and a math and reading tutor.
Emily enjoys running track and field and playing piano. She is excited to get to know the JKG kids!
