שבת שלום JKG families! We had a very busy week at JKG with camp, starting a new Hebrew vocabulary unit (household items), and learning about the value of hachnasat orchim (welcoming guests). This week we wanted to share with you a recipe we made in the spirit of welcoming guests into our homes for shabbat. Our JKG chefs made a special apple pie challah and served it to their friends for snack. It was a hit with both students and teachers!
Teacher Andrea helps students fill our challah dough with apple butter for a super sweet filling!
A JKG student carefully braids and wraps the dough around a bowl to form the circular challah.
We sprinkled the tops with cinnamon and had a deliciously sweet treat ready for our friends!
Making and offering refreshments to guests is one good way to welcome people into a new space. Ask your kids what other ways we learned to be welcoming to others and check back with us next week to see more of our hachnasat orchim activities!

Welcome to the JKG Afterschool Community blog. This is your window into our amazing Afterschool Community. Each week you will find updates on what your kids are learning about at JKG, as well as some suggestions of ways to bring the lessons into your bayit (home).
