Hello Afterschool Community! This week we've been continuing our lessons on hachnasat orchim (welcoming guests) and beginning our journey through the Torah with some familiar stories. Our JKG students have been making our afterschool "home" ready for guests in many ways! Some students are learning to make lots of yummy snacks and present them to our friends: rugelach, pumpkin kugel, and apple pie challah have been our favorites the past couple weeks! Other students have been helping put the finishing touches on our large JKG mosaic: a welcome sign to our space (we also made our own mini-welcome signs for home). We have such a creative group!
One of our students prepares colorful puppets for a Joseph (and his brothers!) puppet show!
JKG chefs whip up a fall pumpkin kugel!
Two of our chefs eagerly presenting their delicious homemade snacks. (Not pictured: kids clamoring to try it!)
This welcome sign is designed for playdates--kids can hang them on their bedroom and say חברים שלום (shalom chaverim, welcome friends)!
Remember our beautiful mosaic project? Here is Teacher Andrea and some dedicated artists put some of our finishing grout touches on it. This sign will be a beautiful way to welcome people into our community space!
